Sikkim University invites applications from Indian citizens for the following non-teaching and teaching/ academic posts on contract/ temporary basis for its Centre Endangered Languages (CEL) funded by the University Grants Commission.

1. Assistant Professor {02 Post}
Pay Band

Educational Qualifications
|
Essential: Good academic record with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade where grading system is practiced at the Master’s degree level in Linguistics from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) in Linguistics conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET or Ph.D. Holders of Ph.D. degree in linguistics as per UGC Minimum Standards and Procedures for award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree. Regulations, 2009.
Desirable: A Ph.D. Degree in Linguistics with specialization in descriptive and/or theoretical aspects of the endangered languages (s) of northeast India. Able to conduct fieldwork with communities in Sikkim and North Bengal and speak in Nepali/ Bengal. Be able to carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator/ Chairperson.

Desirable: A Ph.D. Degree in Linguistics with specialization in Tibeto-Burman languages, Able to conduct fieldwork with communities in Sikkim and North Bengal and speak in Nepali/ Bengal. Be able to carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator/ Chairperson.

Educational Qualifications
|
Essential: Good academic record with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade where grading system is practiced at the Master’s degree from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
Desirable: An M.Phil/ Ph. D Degree in Mass Communication/ Library and Information Science. Experienced in handling audio-video instruments and e-archiving. Able to conduct fieldwork with communities in Sikkim and North Bengal and speak in Nepali/ Bangla. Be able to carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator/ Chairperson.

Essential: MCA/M. Tech./ MLIS/etc. From recognized university.

Educational Qualifications
|
Essential: Mother tongue speaker or person fluent of one of the endangered languages of Sikkim and North Bengal or researcher on the concerned endangered language (See Appendix I).
Desirable: Able to conduct data collection through fieldwork with communities in Sikkim and North Bengal, Be able to carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator/ Chairperson.
